Homemade dog food is a huge hit among dog owners. It saves money, it’s healthier, and it’s more than likely tastier for the dog consuming the food when it comes from Mom or Dad.

If you are someone interesting in trying to cook up some good homemade dog food, or are already a seasoned pro, we were hoping to provide you with recipes and ingredients we think would be healthy and appetizing for your pet.

In our home, we always purchased natural dog food, because of what it contains. However, we don’t have to tell you how expensive it becomes purchasing natural dog food. And, we definitely don’t have to patronize you by telling you how expensive buying dog food is when your dog (and mine) is in the one hundred plus pound weight class. Although I don’t have scientific proof, nor a source to provide, it is arguably known that purchased dog food can lead to expensive vet bills because of kidney disease. Why am I tell you this? Well, kidney disease is known to be caused from processed dog food. Thus, the reason for my family (and my recommendation to you) is to either make homemade dog food, or purchase natural dog food. How much does a bag of natural dog food? On average, your looking anywhere between fifty to seventy dollars for an average thirty pound bag. Although, if you are strapped for cash, their is nothing wrong with buying a regular bag of dog food, such as Iams Adult MiniChunks. This product for instance is not only adequate, but very popular.

On a more personal note, my dog has food allergies. A couple of the food allergies he has is unfortunately common in generic dog food. Thus, this was the reason for inspiring me to write this article; we had to begin feeding him natural dog food.

After a few years of constantly purchasing natural dog food, we decided to broaden our horizons and find out if we could provide adequate dog food, and save money in the process by making homemade dog food.
